J.M. Kearns bio
J.M. Kearns grew up in Ontario, Canada where he developed a
love for rivers, lakes, butter tarts, books, and dark humor.

With a Ph.D. in philosophy and a degree in English literature,
Kearns headed for L.A. and then Nashville in search of life
experience and music (see box below). While a counselor
for two years at Nashville's Crisis Line, Kearns took a long look at
a burning question: why it's so hard to find the lifetime partner
who is right for you (and what it really means to be "right" for
someone). A bunch of pessimistic myths about men and women
were a big part of the problem.

It was time to dispel the myths and tell the male side of the story --
a surprisingly encouraging side -- and that's what he did, in the
best-selling
Why Mr. Right Can't Find You. First published in
Canada and the U.K., it garnered raves from readers and the press,
and was released in the U.S. and later translated into French and
Chinese.

His second book,
Better Love Next Time, is about healing your
romantic soul after a failed relationship. The new book,
Shopping
For Mr. Right
, builds on the ideas of Why Mr. Right Can't Find You,
answering new questions about men, online dating, and how to
test a new relationship.

In 2009, J.M. moved to Cape May, New Jersey, where he lives with
his partner Debra.

Why does that black guitar sit in the corner? Ever since he was a
grad student, J.M. Kearns has been writing songs: it was that
vocation that led him to L.A. and Nashville. He has been a
producer, music journalist, and singer-songwriter. To hear his
songs and read more about his musical journey, click
